LMT Management Team
Jay Kemp Smith
Jay founded LMT along with Steve Clark with the goal of significantly enhancing the state-of-the-art in the application of quantitative methods in the realm of institutional finance and financial risk assessment. Prior to forming LMT, Jay and a partner founded DSP Development Corporation, LMT's sister company, which is a leader in engineering data analysis software. DSP's products have been selected by leading scientific laboratories around the world, as well as by the U.S. government for use in the new Patriot Missile systems. Also prior to LMT, Jay founded IMR, a company which developed innovative data-driven reasoning systems to assist management consultants in improving client operations and productivity across a range of industries. IMR was subsequently acquired by the largest professional services firm in the world. Prior to forming these companies, Jay worked as a strategy consultant for Bain & Company in Boston, and then as a Vice President of the Strategic Planning Institute in Cambridge, where he served the CEOs of a sizable roster of the largest industrial firms in North America and Europe. Prior to Bain, Jay worked for Data Resources, Inc., then the largest non-governmental provider of economic data, and the largest econometrics consulting firm in the world.
Jay set a national record by graduating from Carnegie-Mellon University with his MBA at age 18, as well as a triple B.S. degree in Mathematics, Economics and Industrial Management and a sub-concentration in foreign languages. While at Carnegie-Mellon Jay worked as a programmer for Computer Science Department faculty on NSF funded research projects. More recently, Jay has undertaken graduate studies focused on Molecular Biology and Genetics at Harvard University.
Jay serves on the boards of DSP Development Corporation a scientific software company which he co-founded, The Biomedical Research Institute of Brigham and Women's Hospital, a premier research and teaching hospital which manages over $370 million in annual research grants, Zoo New England which encompasses Boston's Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo, and has previously served as an advisor and board member of Partners for Youth with Disabilities an organization whose mission he has served for over 10 years.
As co-founder of LMT, Steve Clark has led the development of our flagship professional analytics product EXPO, from its inception, and has overseen all development efforts at LMT throughout our history. Prior to LMT, Steve led the development of Thomson Financial's very successful institutional portfolio management system which is still in use today by leading firms worldwide. Steve studied science and engineering at MIT and Stanford where he completed a degree in Information Theory prior to commencing his career as a developer and systems engineer.
Sara leads LMT's client side software development efforts. The applications which Sara has delivered to the marketplace rank among the very best offerings our firm has ever rendered, and are now in use by many thousands of people around the world, every day of the year. Sara is a graduate of Yale University where she finished cum laude, with distinction in the major, and completed a further degree in Computer Science at Harvard University in 2002.
